Christmas cards of a different color.

The traditional Christmas colors did not play a big part in these cards.  Last year I had purchased some chipboard pieces on sale.  I loved the light colors and the pink that was included.  I decided to get busy making some cards using these pieces up.  Instead of letting them sit in drawer for another year.  I still have plenty of them left to use up but here is what I got done so far.  The chipboard pieces I used for the cards come from K&Company sweet noel chipbox, Brenda Walton adhesive chipboard Peppermint Twist, & Holiday Times handmade stickers from Wal-Mart.   The paper I used was from Jo anns 12x12 Peppermint Forest & DCWV Holiday Collection "The Christmas Stack" 180 sheets.  These were all from last year.  To me it doesn't matter how old or long ago I got the paper if it looks good and that is mood I am in I go for it.  Card making for me is to relieve stress so I don't worry about keeping up to date on all the new products.  I just use what I have on hand.  I did stitching on all the cards.  I had my sewing machine out and set up so I figure might as well use it while I had it out.  I love stitching on cards.  I think it adds that special touch.  Hope you like the cards.  Comments are always welcomed.

Reindeer w/snowflake card.

Well I have been in the creative mood this weekend.  I have been busy making Christmas cards.  I am trying to get a jump on things this year.  Last year I sent mostly boxed cards.  This year I am going for homemade cards all the way.  Not sure it will happen but I am putting forth the effort.

This first card I made I got the inspiration from a Making Memories embellishment kit for only $2.50 at Scrapbuck  Scrapbuck is the best place to get scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies for cheap.  Plus free shipping on all orders over $20 bucks.  You can't beat that.  A cool site you might want to check out.  I loved the vintage looking Christmas paper in the kit and used it on this card at the bottom half.  I used a deep red at the top and put it through the cuttlebug using a snowflake folder.  Added some off white cotton lace and even pulled out my sewing machine to do some stitching.  I added a clear snowflake I purchased at Michael's last year sometime.  The deer I did using the Christmas noel cricut cart.  I used the shadow feature on it.  Added a piece of rustic twine around the neck.  Hope you like it.  I have more to come.

Christmas cards w/Stamps

I love the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz collection Christmas stamps.  There are 4 of them to the set.  I used 2 so far.  I used cream cardstock for the card base.  I embossed the stamps in a gold embossing powder.  I added gold colored stick on pearls to each corner, and then added stitching around the stamped image with a gold pen.  The piece of striped cardstock at the bottom came from My Minds Eye Lost & Found Christmas 6x6 paper pad.  I also used a MME's Christmas stamp and embossed it in bright red.  I used a Martha Stewart Holly Branch Pine Leaf craft punch.......I love this punch and used it for many cards.  I punch them out in olive green cardstock and placed them behind the stamped image.  Tied some cream ribbon on.  I really like how these ones turned out.  Hope you like them too.

Christmas card w/Jolly Holidays

I started working on some Christmas cards.  I still need to do some Thanksgiving cards but got the itch to start some Christmas ones.  This card I used the Cricut Jolly Holidays cart.  This cart is so cute.  I love it.  I made the little house with the reindeer on top.  Added some diamond dust glitter on the snow parts.   I put it on a light blue cardstock for the back ground and used the swirls cuttlebug folder.  I used some white DMC memory thread coming out of the chimney to look like smoke.

Tear Bear

Well last December I gave a try at tear bears using extra thick mulberry paper.  They are really cute when used on layouts.  I seen some really great ones on eBay.  A little while ago a girl who does the tear bears did a tutorial on You Tube.  Here is the link if you want to check it out.  How to make a Tear Bear  So here is my attempt using her instructions.  I did learn how to shade the bear.  Still need lots of practice and patience.  I haven't figured out how to make the muzzle look really fluffy.  If I ever get one done I really like and make a layout or card with it I will be sure to post it.

Thank You Card

I made a card over the weekend for my mom.  She is great mom with a big heart and I love her so much.  I haven't sent her a card in awhile and thought this one would be perfect.  I got a cute digi stamp from Tiddly Inks and gave a try at copic markers.  I have managed to collect about 22 markers in over a year.  Because of the expense I only pick one up here and there at my local scrap store.  I went on You tube to watch a few video's on how to shade and color with them.  I have to say I find it hard to catch on.  Maybe if I had a lot more markers it would be easy but I don't know.  It doesn't seem like the kind of thing you can just pick up real easy at least for me.  I think I am going to stick to using my colored pencils with mineral spirits for now.  Maybe use the markers for the skin color.  When I made this card I used a cricut lite Lacy Labels cart for the center piece background.  Well I'm off to put this card in the mail for her.  Have a great day!

Halloween card

Well it is a bit early for Halloween cards but I had bought the Happy Hauntings cart in the spring and figured since it is only 2 months away from Halloween why not bust that baby out and make a card.  So here is my Halloween card.  There are so many great cuts on the Happy Hauntings cart that this will surely not be my last card using this cart.  I cute the tomb stone at 3½ inches on page 60 of the Happy Hauntings hand book.  The word Frank N Stein was really tiny and a pain to put on but I managed.  I think if I ever do that cut again I will make it a inch bigger.  I got the web and little spider from the Paper Doll Dress Up cart on page 49.  I put a little glitter on the web.....hey gotta have a little glitter right?  I had some Halloween chipboard and one of them said Halloween so I used that.  Tied a bit of green twine at the top.   I guess it is never to early to start making cards for holidays.

Another card using Cindy Loo

This is just a simple card.  I like making a few cards that can be used for anything.  It is always nice when something comes up and you don't have time to make a card.  So here is my simple card.  I used a 5X7 card base.  The design is from the Cindy Loo cricut cart on page 32.  It was cut at 4 inches.  I just used a corner punch for the background paper, and put a few white dots on the design to help it pop a little.  Added a little embossing to the design.  A easy and fun card to make.

B-day card

I made this birthday card for my sister.  It is a 5x7 size card.  I was in the mood to make some larger die cuts.  I used the Cindy Loo cart.  I used the paisley from page 33 and cut it at 4 inch.  Added a chipboard with the saying Happy Birthday and a tiny bling flower.  The strip of pink going across the card used the paisley cuttlebug folder.  (yeah finally used that folder) I wanted to do something different then a cupcake or cake...nothing wrong with them I just was in the mood to do something different.  Hope she likes it.

Card for Busy Sister!

My sister has been busy working overtime and getting ready for her first grandbaby.  I thought I would just send her a card to say hi and let her know she is in my thoughts.  I used Create a Critter cricut cart pg. 68 for the word Busy.  Then I used "Just Because" Cards cricut cart for the bee and the word bee pg. 56.  Added some bling and sent it on its way.  I like making cards for my family & friends.  They don't have to be perfect for me.  It is just a nice way to let them know they are in my thoughts and it gives me a chance to relax and enjoy crafting.  Have a great day!

Watering can card

I used the watering can on page 66 of Kate's ABCs cricut cart to make this card.  I cut it at 4inch using my gypsy.  I ran the watering can and the orange flower through the cuttlebug using the swiss dots embossing folder.  On the back ground paper I used a sizzix embossing folder but I don't know the name of it *sorry*.  I threw the package out for it.  I wanted the card to have lots of texture.  The green felt butterflies I got from M's dollar bin awhile back.  Hope you like it.

Prom layout

A couple months after the prom I manage to get done 1 layout.  It was a Hollywood movie type theme prom.  I used some plain black bazzil paper for the base and Bo Bunny paper on top of that.  The flower bunch with the peacock feather came from Webster Pages.  The glitter curly chipboard, and black flowers came from M's.  I used the cricut cart Nursery Rhymes for the font.  The photo on the layout is of my son and his date.  It is both their senior year prom.  I really liked how this turned out.  In my opinion I think it is the best layout I have done yet.  I keep telling myself pratice makes perfect.  I have tons of photos left to pratice on that is for sure.

B-day cards

My daughters birthday is coming up soon so I figured I would get busy making her card.  I asked her what her favorite colors were (cause with kids they can change from day to day).  She said lime green and blue.  All rightie then.  I made the cake from the Simply Charmed cricut cart and used lime green and blue.  Added a couple of blue buttons with green twine tied through them.  So happy to get it done ahead of time.  Then............

She says you didn't ask what kind of animal I liked.  I knew right away what she was talking about.  The Create a Critter cart.  She loves the animals in this cart.  So I gave her the book to look through and tell me what animal she wanted.  She picked the lamb.  I decided since I already did lime green and blue on the cake card I was going to do the lamb card with the colors I felt like.  For this card I remember to write down what I cut the dies at.  I cut the lamb at 3¾".  Happy birthday at 1½".  The grass I cut from Straight from the Nest cart.  I used design studio to cut the grass because I wanted to make sure it would go the lenght of the bottom of the card.  I cut it at 2½" in DS.  I embossed the grass with swiss dots.  It is a 5X7 card.  Put a little bling by the Happy Birthday and I am now done with the 2nd birthday card.  I hope she likes them.  Thanks for looking.

Welcome card

Mary at Cardz TV is having a challenge for National Scrapbooking Day.  Make a layout or card using fruit.  You have till midnight May 13th to enter your project.  Boy am I glad she gave more time to get it done.  With all the contest and challenges going on over the weekend it was tough to get done what I did.  I made a pineapple card with the word welcome.  I cut the pineapple from Serenade cart at 3.5".  The welcome cut from the Cindy Loo cart at 1.5".  I used a A2 card, and I played with the white gel pen also putting some stitches and dots around.  Hope you like it.

MPS Challenge 12

This is the last challenge on My Pink Stamper.  Make a project with a kids theme.  Well since I already did one birthday layout I went on to do another for this challenge.  So I got 2 layouts done today.  I like making cards more then layouts but I need to do more layouts.  I still have lots of birthdays to scrap yet.  I used the SpongeBob cart for this layout also.

MPS Challenge 7

Here is number 7 of the http://www.mypinkstamper.com/ challenge.  Make a scrapbook page.  I have only been scraping b-day pictures.  I am so far behind so I decided to start first with birthdays.  I used the SpongeBob cart.  My kids love SpongeBob.

MPS Challenge 5

My Pink Stamper challenge 5 is any 3D item.  So here is my try at making a purse/gift bag using Tags, bags, & boxes.  It didn't turn out perfect that is for sure but it was a learning experience.  I know I am running out of steam today so I don't know if I am going to be able to get the other 7 done.  I may skip a few.

MPS Challenge 4

My Pink Stamper's challenge 4 is a Mother's Day Theme.  Well I had already made my Mother's Day card for my mom and posted it.  I made another Mother's Day card.  I mean there is no crime in giving mom 2 cards on Mother's day.  I used Kate's ABCs (My favorite cart right now) to cut the vase with flowers.  I embossed the paper behind it using a cuttlebug folder Fleur De Lis.  I put some pearls in the center of the flowers.  Added a piece of paper lace doily to the bottom of the paper.  A dust pf ultra fine pink glitter to the doily.

MPS Challenge 3

This My Pink Stamper challenge was a breast cancer theme.  I used Gypsy Wanderings for the hope cut.  I didn't have any solid pink ribbon which I couldn't believe since I have a little girl.  I had sheer, polka dot, and stripe which I used here.  I need to put solid pink ribbon on my list.

MPS Challenge 2

The 2nd challenge is to use kraft paper.  I used the Heritage cart to make a parchment die.  Inked the edges up good to make the parchment look old.  Used a M's dollar bin stamp and stamped the word friendship on the parchment die.  I also used some flower stickers that my friend got me for Christmas in a bag of scrap goodies I got from her.  I doubt I will get to the 3rd challenge tonight.  I started late on this.

MPS Challenge 1

My Pink Stamper is having National Scrapbook Day challenges on her blog.  The 1st Challenge is to make something using a cupcake.  So I made a quick card using the Sweet Treat cart.  I cut the cupcake at 3.5".  I made the card where the top flap is tucked under the cherry.  Just bend it back slightly and the flap will pop out and you can open the card.  Here is the link for the challenge.  The Pink Stamper   She is giving away prizes.  Come join the fun!

Just a card

I made a anything goes card.  These always come in handy when you just need to stamp some kind of sentiment inside.  I had gotten a package of die cuts on clearance at Michael's.  I can't remember the brand name sorry.  I made it a A2 size card.  I inked the edge of the card with peeled paint distress ink and then went over it again with vintage photo distress ink.  I embossed the pink paper with a cuttlebug embossing folder, Birds and Swirls.  Inked the edges of that also.  I found some ribbon at Wal-Mart for a dollar a spool......what a great deal!  I added a chipboard bird cage......also from M's clearance stuff.  The tiny white bow with the flower in the middle I got at Wal-Mart for $1.27.  They were called Stylish Accents and were where the ribbon was.  A lot easier then trying to make a tiny bow like that myself.  I inked the die cut and chipboard in vintage photo.  Added some bling on the bottom and I got a card ready to go.  I have been so out of it with the rain.  It is such a downer.  I need to get busy and make some more cards...like the one I made here.  I have depleted my stash.  Time to get busy!  Hope you all have a crafty week.

Mother's Day Card

I made a card for my mother and sister for Mother's day.  I got my inspiration from http://joy-purttypaperz.blogspot.com/  Her blog has some wonderful cards on it.  If you get a chance check her blog out it will be worth it.  I used Country Life cart to make the pitcher of flowers.  Hope you like it.

Repeat from yesterday

I made another April Showers card.  I cut the girl the same size and used the same size card as yesterday.  I had to make one for my mom.  My mom lives close to me but I have a sister and a friend who live a couple hours away.  I send a lot of the cards I make to them.  My friend is also a card maker and sends me a card from time to time also.  It is nice to get that hand made card in the mail.  I always put them on my cupboard and display it.  Thanks for looking.

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

I was inspired to do this card due to the down pour of rain we were getting.  I keep telling myself that we need this rain for the May flowers.  I know I am ready for some sunshine.  It has been raining on and off for so long now I quit keeping track.  I made the girl from Kate's ABCs cart.  I cut her at 4 inches and used a A4 size card.  I had some cute umbrella patterned paper and had to find a way to include it in the card.  Hope you like it!

Family Layout

Well layouts are not my strong point so I spent about a week putting this layout together.  The ribbon flower in the upper right hand corner is ribbon I sewed and pulled together to gather and added some pearls in the middle.  That ribbon matched that paper perfect.  Some of the flowers down in the lower left hand corner I made and some were bought.  My son said it was flower over kill but he just doesn't get it.  When you get a chance to use some of those flower you made you go for it.....LOL.  Thanks for looking!

Fairy card using Once Upon a Springtime Graphic 45 paper.

Wow I just love this paper.  I only bought the 8x8 paper pad for now.  I am sure I will be picking up the 12x12 paper soon.  I used glitter glue on the wings of the fairy, and glitter mist on the flowers.  Hard to tell in the photo.  Put lots of pearls around.  Here is wishing you all a nice spring day!

Blue Fairy

It has been awhile since I last posted.  This spring weather brought along a nasty virus with it.  My entire family got it.  I was the last to get it.  It was not a virus that made you throw up and get sick in the stomach.  It attacked your sinuses and your lungs.  I have not cough so much in years.  I thought my head or chest would explode and just forget about getting any sleep because you would just cough and cough.  Even taking a antibiotic didn't take the cough away.  Just something you have to work through.  I had my first good night sleep last night.  I am still coughing but not like I was.

Well I had pulled out some of my old stamps awhile back and I picked out this fairy.  I decided to use blue glitter mist on the paper and then stamp the fairy on it.  I put some perfect pearls on her wings.  Had to give them some extra sparkle.  Hope you like her.

Sunflowers

I just love sunflowers.  I bought this Precious Moments stamp back in the late 90's from Stampendous.  I used Staedtler watercolour pencils to color her in.  Hope she brightens your day.

Purple & yellow duo

I made 2 cards with the same backgrounds.  I pulled a 12x12 piece of coredinations color core paper out of my pack so I decided why not make 2 cards with the purple.  I embossed them both in the cuttlebug using the stylized flowers folder.  Then the fun part I sanded them to bring out the embossing.  On the first card shown I used Kate's ABCs cart, page 68 in the hand book to make the flowers.  I used spellbinders nestabilities classic scalloped circle dies for both cards.  I used clear yellow glass beads to dress up the first card a bit.  On the second card I used Sweet Novenber Stamps by Amy Young, Spring Elves.  I actually won these stamps about a year ago on All that scraps blog.....http://atsblog.typepad.com/.  First and only time I have ever won anything from a blog.  I stitched around the card, added a flower brad and some glitter glue.

Thanks for looking!

Card for my Mom

I made this card for my mom.  Last Saturday we went to the craft stores to do some shopping and because I had a 10 dollar certificate for AC Moore.  It expired at the end of this month so I felt the need to spend it now...LOL.  Well AC Moore had some cricut carts on sale for $29.99.  With the 10 dollar coupon a cart would only cost me $19.99.  I couldn't decide which one to get.  A child's year or Winter frolic.  Mom was telling me she really liked A child's year.  I wanted a child's year to work on layouts of my kids.  So I went with a child's year.  I decided to make a card for her using this cart.  My mom loves loves loves flowers & plants.  She only has a very small patch of grass in her back yard because she has planted flowers and bushes in most of it.  I thought the little girl watering the flowers was a good one for her.  I am going to send it off in the mail today.  She lives only about a mile from me but I think it is nice to get a little something in the mail other then bills.

Believe card!

I was looking through the Kate's ABCs book and found these butterflies.  I decided to make a card using them.  The believe stamp is another Michael's dollar stamps.  I am a big fan of their dollar bin.  You just can't beat a stamp for a buck.  The curly brown glittler adhesive I found at Michael's too.  I thought they were pretty cool.  Already glittered, colored, and ready to stick.  They help dress up a card in no time.  Hope you like the card.  Have a great day all!

1st Easter card made this year.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to snag the last Kate's ABCs cart from J's.  They didn't even have a tag hanging up I just took a chance and asked it they had it and they had one left under the counter.  I am so glad I got this cart.  I really love all the cute images on it.  Since I have a boy & a girl I need to put Nate's ABCs on my wish list.

Onto my card.  I have to say I scraplifted this card from Youtube.  Here is the link for the video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8zUsbUNjg4

I know I will be making some more cards with this cart.  I will also be making cards with some of the older carts too with PC raising their prices.  With gas going up it is not in my budget to spend a lot of money for a cart.  Especially if I have Make the Cut.

My Pink Stamper Challenge

MPS is having a challenge to make a card with a feathered friend.  So here is my card.  I used the Serenade cart.  I used a 5X7 card base.  I cut the bird house at 3½" and the bird was done at 2½".  Just a Note.

Congrats card!

My niece got a apartment on her own for the first time.  She usually would share with another girl.  I wanted to send her a little congrats for getting out on her own.  I made the house on the card with Create a Critter cart, and the congrats I made with Stamping solution cart.  I use both those carts a lot.  There are so many good cuts on them.  I love using Stamping solution for little sayings like the congrats.  I was in a flower mood so I put a bunch of little prima flowers around.  Some of the flowers are still wet from the glue.  I added a couple cute butterflies I had left over from a card I posted on her a while back.  I like to keep extra die cuts that I have left over from making a card.  You never know when you could use them.  I also used pearl glimmer mist on the flowers.  I love that one because it leaves a nice amount of sparkle.

Your tweet! card

Made a couple cards today.  I have decided to try and make a extra card when I can so I have a few around when I need one.  So here I made 2 but made a slight change in color on one just to keep it interesting.  I got a 6 piece die set of Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Scalloped Circles awhile back and decided to give them a try.  I do like them for making a quick circle but I still rely on using my cricut for most cuts.  I bought a pack of Ebony & Ivory Core'dination colorcore cardstock last weekend and wanted to try this paper out also.  So I embossed the paper with birds & swirls cuttlebug folder and then sanded it with a fine sand paper to bring out the white underneath.  I am really liking this paper.  I used some Jilliebean soup twine to wrap around the paper with a yellow button.  The bird stamp is a wooden block stamp from Michael's dollar bins.  The your tweet saying is from a studio G stamp another dollar stamp.  Not sure where I picked it up at.  Believe it or not I used some plain ole bic markers to color the bird.  I liked how bright these markers were.  I do have some copic markers but only 11 of them and not the colors I wanted to use.  Some day I will have more.  I just add to my little stash of copics one at a time.  Here and there.

Mini Pocket Page

Last week I seen this tutorial on youtube on making a mini pocket page.  Kathy from http://www.paperphenomenon.blogspot.com/ is the one who did the tutorial.  Here is the link to the tutorial on youtube  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r7PxDIIgzs  She does a lot of wonderful projects.  This pocket page is so cute to give as a gift or to put pictures of loved ones in it to carry in your purse.  Also makes a great add on to a mini album.  Best thing about it is it can be done in a hour or so depending on how much you decide to embellish it.  Quick, fun, & easy!

Making flowers again

Yep I was at it again.  I had yesterday off so I started tinkering around and ended up making some flowers.  I cut pieces of my home town newspaper up and glued it to reg white card stock.  Then using the Tim Holtz sizzix tattered florals die.  I ran the paper through the cuttlebug.  I don't know what I was thinking.  I just wanted some newpaper printed paper like.  I embossed the ends of the flowers in my black & gold embossing powder I had for years and forgot all about till  yesterday.  Back from my rubber stamping/card making days.  I curled some of the flowers petals.  It was more of a play time for me then anything.  I figure if I  practice enough some day I will make some really great flowers.  I did watch a live ustream last night on making flowers.  I learned some new things.  Here is a link to the site.  http://paperphenomenon.blogspot.com/  It is under the title FFFF for Feb First Fabulous Flowers
I am keeping hope alive that I will make some really beautiful flowers here in the future.  I know it is easy to just buy them but what fun is that?
