July card swap

Wow the month of June just flew by.  I can't believe it is July already.  Here are the cards I sent to Millie & Kim this month for the July card swap.

For this card I used the Tim Holtz's Tattered flowers sizzix die for the flowers.  The tag on the front comes from the pack of tags that Millie sent me last month.  The lace used at the bottom came from a pack of trim from Webster's.  I also did some sewing around the edges.  Yeah I can't believe I pulled my machine out.  I used a cream thread but now I am thinking I should have used white cause you can hardly see it.  I also embossed the card base.  I can't remember the folder I used.  I have so many embossing folders I need to start using them.

This was a fun card to make.  The pink frame was just a piece of plain chipboard.  I painted it pink and glued some glitter on it.  Put a flower and some embellishment's on.  The key is a brad that Kim gave me.  I really liked them.  Not as heavy as the metal keys you can get.

This card was a bright and cheery card.  The reason I did a mushroom is when I took the dog out I noticed a bunch of mushrooms in the grass.  It just put me in the mood to do a mushroom card.  I made the mushroom from the Cricut Cindy Loo cart.  It is such a cute cart.  Once again I embossed the background.  Trying to use those embossing folders more.

Next on to the goodies I put in the ladies swap bags.

I seen these really cute layer stickers from MME at my LSS.  Then I found a paper pad that goes with it.  So I got each of the ladies a pack of the stickers and then I split the paper pad between them so they would have some matching paper to go with the stickers.

As I was looking at the stickers with the kite on it.  I decided some cool felt clouds would be nice to go with the goodies too.

I went to a place called surplus city.  They have all kinds of lace n such.  So I picked up a yard of this and that lace and gave Kim & Millie a foot each.  We all got a foot each.  I have plenty of lace but I thought this lace was neat cause it had a line of small pearls on it.  I got the lace with pink and white pearls.  I also picked up a lacey applique.  We can find so many things that you would have never thought to use on a card only to find out hey that can work.

I decorated these little tea lights.  I seen it somewhere but can't remember and decided to give it a whirl.  Here is what I came up with.  I hope the ladies like them.

That's my July swap for Millie & Kim.  When they send me theirs I will be sure to post.

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July!
Be safe, & enjoy!

Card for my sister

From time to time we all go through a rough patch in life.  My sister is going through a rough patch right now. I wanted to make her a card to cheer her sad heart and let her know that I love her.  She lives a couple hours away from me and we don't get to see each other that much.  She loves getting my handmade cards in the mail.  Even the not so great ones......she loves them all.

I made this card using 2 Cricut carts.  Lacy Labels, & Cindy Loo.  I just love this owl on the cindy loo cart page 60.  I cut it at 3".  I also cut the label at 3" from the lacy labels cart.  I used 3 different embossing folders.  1 Sizzix Ellison folder.  2 Cuttlebug folders, spots & dots, and moroccan.  I love the texture I got from embossing the background and the owl.  The pattern paper is from K&Co. Life's Journey 12x12 pad.  The stamp is from Studio G.....my favorite dollar stamps!  Of course there is some bling & glitter.  All put on a A2 size card.

Another card using Cindy Loo

This is just a simple card.  I like making a few cards that can be used for anything.  It is always nice when something comes up and you don't have time to make a card.  So here is my simple card.  I used a 5X7 card base.  The design is from the Cindy Loo cricut cart on page 32.  It was cut at 4 inches.  I just used a corner punch for the background paper, and put a few white dots on the design to help it pop a little.  Added a little embossing to the design.  A easy and fun card to make.

B-day card

I made this birthday card for my sister.  It is a 5x7 size card.  I was in the mood to make some larger die cuts.  I used the Cindy Loo cart.  I used the paisley from page 33 and cut it at 4 inch.  Added a chipboard with the saying Happy Birthday and a tiny bling flower.  The strip of pink going across the card used the paisley cuttlebug folder.  (yeah finally used that folder) I wanted to do something different then a cupcake or cake...nothing wrong with them I just was in the mood to do something different.  Hope she likes it.

Welcome card

Mary at Cardz TV is having a challenge for National Scrapbooking Day.  Make a layout or card using fruit.  You have till midnight May 13th to enter your project.  Boy am I glad she gave more time to get it done.  With all the contest and challenges going on over the weekend it was tough to get done what I did.  I made a pineapple card with the word welcome.  I cut the pineapple from Serenade cart at 3.5".  The welcome cut from the Cindy Loo cart at 1.5".  I used a A2 card, and I played with the white gel pen also putting some stitches and dots around.  Hope you like it.
