A gift for my card swap buddies.

I made a little gift for Millie & Kim.  The ladies I swap cards with every month.  I made them each a purse and filled it with some paper flowers I made with my new ek flower punch.  I included a card that I was lucky enough to find some paper in my stash with purses on it.  It worked out great.  I used 2 cricut carts.  Gypsy Wanderings for the dress & Lovely Floral for the word create.

Happy Crafting!

Kim's purse
The flower on the front I made using Tim Holtz tattered flowers die.
The paper I used for the purse is from Piggy tales.

She likes cats so that is why I used this paper from Piggy tales.

A card of a different fold.

I was watching crafting videos on YouTube.  Oh yes I am a big YouTube craft video junkie.  I love watching all the cool projects people make.  So much talent and creativity in the world!  I was watching one video where a lady was making cards and folding them differently.  I decided to give one a whirl.  I stepped outside of my comfort zone with this one.  I took a 6"x10" piece of card stock to make it.  The label on the card is from the Lacy labels cricut cart.  The little girl/boy die cut is from K&Co. die cuts.  Background paper is from a recollection stack, Love Letters.  The tag I made is from a punch and the ticket is one of Tim Holtz.  Hope you like it.  Comments are welcome.

A gift from Millie

Went to the mail box and there was a small package there for me.  Hmmmm wondering what I must have ordered and forgot about but I couldn't think of anything.  Then I seen the return address and name.  It was from Millie my friend.  Excited to get a surprise package in the mail from her I opened it up.  Inside was a cd loaded with some good ole 80's songs from days gone by.  Yep I'm a 80's girl.  Inside the case was a stamped picture and a small calendar with instructions.  You take the case apart and flip it around to make it like a easel.  Calendar in the front and cd filled with good music at your fingertips in the back.  Super cute project!!  Thanks a bunch Millie.  Here is a picture of the stamped picture with calendar.

Dryer sheet flowers

Up late this Saturday night.  I have been saving my dryer sheets up...(which is not hard to do with the wash load I get).......to make some dryer sheet flowers.  Here is a picture of my finished product.  Sorry the picture is so dark it is late.......(almost midnight)......when I took it.  I found it sorta hard to get a nice perfect circle that is for sure.  After it was all done though I am glad they are not perfect circles cause it adds character to them.  Really easy make.  Just spray the sheets with some glimmer mist, let dry.  Cut out three circles, one bigger then the first.  I just used a brad to attach them together.  The pink ones I used a really tiny brad and then stuck the embellishment on top.  Added stickles to the edges of each circle.

Card for my sister

From time to time we all go through a rough patch in life.  My sister is going through a rough patch right now. I wanted to make her a card to cheer her sad heart and let her know that I love her.  She lives a couple hours away from me and we don't get to see each other that much.  She loves getting my handmade cards in the mail.  Even the not so great ones......she loves them all.

I made this card using 2 Cricut carts.  Lacy Labels, & Cindy Loo.  I just love this owl on the cindy loo cart page 60.  I cut it at 3".  I also cut the label at 3" from the lacy labels cart.  I used 3 different embossing folders.  1 Sizzix Ellison folder.  2 Cuttlebug folders, spots & dots, and moroccan.  I love the texture I got from embossing the background and the owl.  The pattern paper is from K&Co. Life's Journey 12x12 pad.  The stamp is from Studio G.....my favorite dollar stamps!  Of course there is some bling & glitter.  All put on a A2 size card.

Snowmen swap cards

Got my cute cards Millie made for our swap.  They are all so pretty the scanner doesn't do them justice.  I love the embossing folder she used for the first card.  She did that on glitter paper.  To bad the scanner can't pick up the sparkle on the paper.  Thanks Millie for some wonderful snowmen cards!

My 3 cards

Here is the 3 cards I sent to Kim for the swap.

This one was done using the Winter Woodland cricut cart.

These 2 cards I used stamps on.  The first one I don't remember where I got that stamp maybe M's dollar bin.  The other one not sure I think Stampin Up.

Next post should be Millie's cards.  She mailed them out to me yesterday.  They will be here soon.

Happy Crafting.

Swap bonus cards

I mentioned in my last post about a swap I decided to do with friends.  In this swap for this month the theme was snowmen.  We are to do 3 cards alike or 3 different style cards with snowmen.  This month I am to send my 3 to Kim,  Kim sends her 3 to Millie, and Millie sends her 3 to me.  Since this is the first month there was some wires crossed and Kim sent me her 3 by mistake.  After realizing her mistake she made 3 more to send to Millie.  Well Lucky me cause she said just to keep the 3 she sent me.  So I got a bonus 3 cards this month.  Kim made 3 of the same card.  So here is the card she made.  Super cute with all the snowman.  She did a great job coloring all of them.  Thanks Kim!!

I will post the cards I made for Kim after I am sure she got them in the mail.  Don't want to ruin her surprise.  I will also post Millie's 3 cards when I get them.

One V day card done.....more to do.

Well I managed to get one card done.  Yipee!  Not sure how many more I will need.  I make a card, look at it and say ok this card goes to so & so.  I try to make a card for all the special people in my life.  No cricut used on this card.  I am getting a bit lazy not using the cricut but I have to say I love the vintage look and couldn't pass up the K&Co. vintage die cuts.  The little girl and the ticket came from K&Co.  Flowers are prima.  Used some liquid pearl, and lace.  The little pink hearts came from a Memories kit.  It is just a little of this and a little of that on the card.

My girlfriend decided to start a swap.  She lives a few hours from me.  She has a friend who lives in her town that does cards too.  So in order to get the 3 of us motivated she put together a swap for the year.  For this month the theme is snowmen.  I need to get busy and work on 3 snowmen cards.  I will post the 3 I get and the 3 I made when they are done.

Happy Crafting!!

New Year & New Tool/Toy

It is a new year and I hope a good one for all.  I picked up a new tool/toy with my Christmas money.  I purchased it at AC Moore with a 50% off coupon.  It was $16.99 so that coupon was nice.  ek tools has a dimensional flower punch out.  The one I got is carnation.  I made a few flowers up last night.  It is super easy to make them.  I just punched along a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and I got a flower strip.  I punched out a strip from 2 different colored cardstock.  (the thicker cardstock can be a bit harder to punch through)  Just glue the 2 strips together with the petals off set of each other a bit.  I just used Aleene's quick dry tacky glue.  It worked fine no hot glue needed.  I got a small paint brush of mine and used the handle since it is round and small and rolled the flower up.  Placing a little glue on the border strip here and there as I went.  After I got it all rolled up and glued the ends I just pushed those petal outwards and got a really cute flower.  I went and shoved a pearl down in the center.  All done!  Now these flowers do not lay flat so I probably won't use them on a card, but I believe they could be used on a layout page.  They are great if you like to decorate boxes and such.  So if you seen these and was on the fence about them maybe this picture will help you decide.  Have a great day!

Christmas cards of a different color.

The traditional Christmas colors did not play a big part in these cards.  Last year I had purchased some chipboard pieces on sale.  I loved the light colors and the pink that was included.  I decided to get busy making some cards using these pieces up.  Instead of letting them sit in drawer for another year.  I still have plenty of them left to use up but here is what I got done so far.  The chipboard pieces I used for the cards come from K&Company sweet noel chipbox, Brenda Walton adhesive chipboard Peppermint Twist, & Holiday Times handmade stickers from Wal-Mart.   The paper I used was from Jo anns 12x12 Peppermint Forest & DCWV Holiday Collection "The Christmas Stack" 180 sheets.  These were all from last year.  To me it doesn't matter how old or long ago I got the paper if it looks good and that is mood I am in I go for it.  Card making for me is to relieve stress so I don't worry about keeping up to date on all the new products.  I just use what I have on hand.  I did stitching on all the cards.  I had my sewing machine out and set up so I figure might as well use it while I had it out.  I love stitching on cards.  I think it adds that special touch.  Hope you like the cards.  Comments are always welcomed.

Reindeer w/snowflake card.

Well I have been in the creative mood this weekend.  I have been busy making Christmas cards.  I am trying to get a jump on things this year.  Last year I sent mostly boxed cards.  This year I am going for homemade cards all the way.  Not sure it will happen but I am putting forth the effort.

This first card I made I got the inspiration from a Making Memories embellishment kit for only $2.50 at Scrapbuck  Scrapbuck is the best place to get scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies for cheap.  Plus free shipping on all orders over $20 bucks.  You can't beat that.  A cool site you might want to check out.  I loved the vintage looking Christmas paper in the kit and used it on this card at the bottom half.  I used a deep red at the top and put it through the cuttlebug using a snowflake folder.  Added some off white cotton lace and even pulled out my sewing machine to do some stitching.  I added a clear snowflake I purchased at Michael's last year sometime.  The deer I did using the Christmas noel cricut cart.  I used the shadow feature on it.  Added a piece of rustic twine around the neck.  Hope you like it.  I have more to come.

Christmas cards w/Stamps

I love the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz collection Christmas stamps.  There are 4 of them to the set.  I used 2 so far.  I used cream cardstock for the card base.  I embossed the stamps in a gold embossing powder.  I added gold colored stick on pearls to each corner, and then added stitching around the stamped image with a gold pen.  The piece of striped cardstock at the bottom came from My Minds Eye Lost & Found Christmas 6x6 paper pad.  I also used a MME's Christmas stamp and embossed it in bright red.  I used a Martha Stewart Holly Branch Pine Leaf craft punch.......I love this punch and used it for many cards.  I punch them out in olive green cardstock and placed them behind the stamped image.  Tied some cream ribbon on.  I really like how these ones turned out.  Hope you like them too.

Christmas card w/Jolly Holidays

I started working on some Christmas cards.  I still need to do some Thanksgiving cards but got the itch to start some Christmas ones.  This card I used the Cricut Jolly Holidays cart.  This cart is so cute.  I love it.  I made the little house with the reindeer on top.  Added some diamond dust glitter on the snow parts.   I put it on a light blue cardstock for the back ground and used the swirls cuttlebug folder.  I used some white DMC memory thread coming out of the chimney to look like smoke.

Tear Bear

Well last December I gave a try at tear bears using extra thick mulberry paper.  They are really cute when used on layouts.  I seen some really great ones on eBay.  A little while ago a girl who does the tear bears did a tutorial on You Tube.  Here is the link if you want to check it out.  How to make a Tear Bear  So here is my attempt using her instructions.  I did learn how to shade the bear.  Still need lots of practice and patience.  I haven't figured out how to make the muzzle look really fluffy.  If I ever get one done I really like and make a layout or card with it I will be sure to post it.

Thank You Card

I made a card over the weekend for my mom.  She is great mom with a big heart and I love her so much.  I haven't sent her a card in awhile and thought this one would be perfect.  I got a cute digi stamp from Tiddly Inks and gave a try at copic markers.  I have managed to collect about 22 markers in over a year.  Because of the expense I only pick one up here and there at my local scrap store.  I went on You tube to watch a few video's on how to shade and color with them.  I have to say I find it hard to catch on.  Maybe if I had a lot more markers it would be easy but I don't know.  It doesn't seem like the kind of thing you can just pick up real easy at least for me.  I think I am going to stick to using my colored pencils with mineral spirits for now.  Maybe use the markers for the skin color.  When I made this card I used a cricut lite Lacy Labels cart for the center piece background.  Well I'm off to put this card in the mail for her.  Have a great day!

Halloween card

Well it is a bit early for Halloween cards but I had bought the Happy Hauntings cart in the spring and figured since it is only 2 months away from Halloween why not bust that baby out and make a card.  So here is my Halloween card.  There are so many great cuts on the Happy Hauntings cart that this will surely not be my last card using this cart.  I cute the tomb stone at 3½ inches on page 60 of the Happy Hauntings hand book.  The word Frank N Stein was really tiny and a pain to put on but I managed.  I think if I ever do that cut again I will make it a inch bigger.  I got the web and little spider from the Paper Doll Dress Up cart on page 49.  I put a little glitter on the web.....hey gotta have a little glitter right?  I had some Halloween chipboard and one of them said Halloween so I used that.  Tied a bit of green twine at the top.   I guess it is never to early to start making cards for holidays.

Another card using Cindy Loo

This is just a simple card.  I like making a few cards that can be used for anything.  It is always nice when something comes up and you don't have time to make a card.  So here is my simple card.  I used a 5X7 card base.  The design is from the Cindy Loo cricut cart on page 32.  It was cut at 4 inches.  I just used a corner punch for the background paper, and put a few white dots on the design to help it pop a little.  Added a little embossing to the design.  A easy and fun card to make.

B-day card

I made this birthday card for my sister.  It is a 5x7 size card.  I was in the mood to make some larger die cuts.  I used the Cindy Loo cart.  I used the paisley from page 33 and cut it at 4 inch.  Added a chipboard with the saying Happy Birthday and a tiny bling flower.  The strip of pink going across the card used the paisley cuttlebug folder.  (yeah finally used that folder) I wanted to do something different then a cupcake or cake...nothing wrong with them I just was in the mood to do something different.  Hope she likes it.
